TEXTILE & CLOTHING SECTOR

Textile

International competition on the product and production and distribution costs has distinguished itself in the Textile and Clothing product market. In this context the need to find excellence in all business areas is more than ever a current issue. Italian business is qualified and appreciated worldwide for its creative component; this level of excellence goes hand in hand with organizational and managerial expertise, certainly less exposed to media promotion but which seriously impinge on the overall performance of a business.

What are the positive effects for the textile and clothing company, when it grasps the importance of these problems? The achievable results, documented by the great experience of Simco in consulting gained in this specific sector of the market, focus on the reduction of indirect and direct costs of business logistics, the improvement in  operating efficiency (increase in accuracy, lead time of delivery and more generally the Level of Service), and in doing away with useless consumption.

These results concur with other specific competences developed and enhanced by Simco over time: Staff Training, work organization, business intelligence, software products directed to the knowledge of business performance indicators in its most critical sectors like stock management, performances of internal logistics, transport, etc.

During its business experience in the Textile and Clothing sector Simco has accomplished numerous projects in a broad range of diversified areas, gaining comprehensive experience.

The activities we can offer are:

  • Master Plan and Feasibility Studies to expand, reorganize or construct new industrial sites: this activity is geared to advising the Company Customer on the strategic development of its real estate keeping account of available building and urban indexes and business projection data (turnover, stock and flow volumes, acquisition of new businesses, etc.). These types of study usually involve identification of the “fixed” and “mobile” aspects of development for the strategic business activities, preparation blocks layout, identification of macro-flows between departments, parametric pre-sizing of factory utilities (offices, factory, warehouse/s, general services, technological services, other).  Among the different possible solutions explored during the project, choices are made on the costs/benefits and an estimate of the investment required to realize the chosen solution is consolidated.
  • Executive and management planning of what has been previously set out, with particular attention to logistics engineering but also to the more traditional kind: building, structural, mechanical, electric, special. For these activities Legal responsibilities are also assumed (Issue of licences, reports and bureaucratic /administrative projects and contacts with the Appointed Bodies, Direction of Works in conformity with the Law, Site safety, static inspections of the structures, etc.)
  • Interventions on the Supply Chain, with particular attention to industrial logistics both physical and logical/organizational in the Textile and Clothing sector. This means:
      • studies of logistics feasibility, executive detail design (lay out, single load unit and multi SKUnits in relation to the Gaussian distribution of consumption typical of the Textile and Clothing sector, tools and equipment for logistics inside the factory/warehouse etc.) drawing up specifications, bringing out and control of tenders, assistance in purchasing, control of time and realization costs, high level of surveillance of yards of logistics works, inspections and acceptance of equipment, both in the mechanization and automation for checking the flows of material
      • in detail of what is described at the previous point Simco can assist the customer in carrying out strictly operational activities, namely: criteria and methods of codifying the warehouse compartments, assistance in configuring the static or dynamic map of the warehouse, setting the picking display, management of seasonal products and not in relation to the merchandise for stockists, residual stock, etc.
      • to support the activities previously described and, in particular, to automate Textile and Clothing warehouses, Simco also develops dynamic simulations to optimise investments and identify possible design problems (queues, build-ups, bottle necks, push/pull logic, etc.)
      • layout of the functional specifications and identification of the outputs to purchase software for the operation of the business warehouse/s and the fixed/dynamic management of the costs/flows of transport
      • supply and assistance in the installation of a software package to manage stock. This aspect, very critical in the Textile and Clothing sector, is tackled both with an in-depth analysis of the historical trends of the Company and the use of specific forecast models. The package used also includes an output to verify the interest in remodelling the distribution structure.
      • supply and assistance in the installation of a software product to monitor the performances of efficiency and warehouse costs, developed by Simco on a market leader relational database
      • Staff training
